Introducing our High School Scholarship Recipient
Congratulations to Jayvin Mayfield, our 2024 scholarship recipient at the high school level. Jayvin plans to attend Stephen F. Austin University on a sports scholarship in the Fall to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. His long-term career goal is coaching on the high school or collegiate level.
Jayvin is quite the accomplished student athlete, racking up many honors in his high school career, including:
- All State Cornerback and Wide Receiver
- All District Cornerback, Wide Receiver and Punt Returner
- All District in Academics for Football
- All District – Basketball
- Basketball Newcomer of the Year
- District Qualifier in Long Jump and Triple Jump
- Player of the Week
- Red Zone Play of the Week
- A/B Honor Roll
How he finds time for schoolwork, sports and volunteerism is beyond us, but he does it all, and he does it well. Jayvin has served as the audio and video technician for the St. Violet Baptist Church youth ministry and has also volunteered with several community organizations including:
- East Texas Food Bank
- Children’s Advocacy
- Toys for Tots
- Salvation Army
- Various local nursing homes and rehabilitation centers
